Remember that gorgeous Momma I posted lifestyle maternity pictures of a few weeks ago? Well, she had her beautiful baby girl just a few days after that session and yesterday, I had the opportunity to go back and capture the tender newborn stage along with the whole family surrounding their newest addition!
Pictures like these are why I got into photography. Capturing those moments of dad snuggling baby girl with the faintest of smiles curling the edge of his lips as he breaths in her sweet newborn scent and feels her warm body snuggled in his grasp. Siblings fighting over who gets to hold the baby and covering her in kisses. Big sisters being mini mommies. Mom's tender caress as she puts the baby to sleep. Being a photographer is so much more than just snapping pictures, it is preserving moments, emotions, memories, and love in a beautiful and artistic way. I absolutely love being a part of helping people preserve their individual stories.
Congratulation C. Family! You are such a beautiful family and baby Sloan is one lucky girl to be surrounded with so much love! Here is your sneak peak of our session...
For some people, the idea of doing maternity pictures seems a little hard to grasp. Some people feel awkward posing in front of the camera by themselves, or even posing to showcase their growing belly. This was the case for this beautiful momma. And honestly, it was a dilemma for me when I was pregnant with each of my three girls. On the one hand, you get to the point where you are engulfed in the feelings of complete discomfort, insecurity at your changing body (not just the bump..right?!), and never being able to think straight because you're short of breath... ALL THE TIME! On the other hand, that time when you and your babe are one, where you can feel every little kick, punch, hiccup, stretch, and turn, is one of life's most sacred gifts. It is special. A completely unique bond between you and your child. And deep down, we all would love to have that sacred bond documented in more than just our memory. Memories fade, but capturing a moment in a picture can last a lifetime.
When I approach a maternity session, it is with a very distinct goal in mind; to capture that way you look at your baby inside you, to articulate that longing you have for your baby to be in your arms, and to show you just how beautiful you are as you have sacrificed your body and comforts in order to give new life to a child...your child.
So here is this momma, watching her sweet baby girl move in her belly and imagining meeting her in just a few short days! Maybe one day this baby girl will break out these pictures and think how beautiful her mom was as she sacrificed to give her life, maybe she'll hold them for comfort as she goes through her own pregnancy, and maybe 1 will be displayed in her very own nursery for her baby, adding that perfect touch of vintage to the room. Truly moments to cherish.
Can you Believe all these cute girls? They are some of the most gorgeous sisters I have ever laid my eyes on! We brought them out of the rain and into the studio to do their sister's premium session. I loved watching them interact with each other.. it was full of loving cuddles and pulling hair and everything in between!
